I LOVE MY BOYS!

Five years ago today, Barrett asked me to marry him.  It is crazy to me to look at these two boys, to look back on all that has happened since then and how much we have learned about life and love and each other.  Praising the Lord for what He has done and for what He has in store for us for the future!

OLÉ-olé, olé, olé...

(Whitty, Rhiannon, Bella and Sam)

... more like NO-lé! Whitty had his first soccer game last Saturday at 8:45am. Most of you know that is well before he usually wakes up in the mornings ;) These pictures don't quite capture the frustration of the event, as I didn't know why my son spent most of the game crying. Notice the last picture, that is Whitty's foot hanging down as his coach was having to carry him during the game. We have been assured it will get better, we'll keep you posted!

LOOK ALIKES?

Many of you have asked us if Harper looks like Whittaker so we thought we'd let you see the comparison.  We took these pictures of Harper today at 9weeks 2days and the pictures of Whittaker were taken when he was 15weeks 2days.  Tell us what YOU think!

C'mere...

So yesterday afternoon, Whittaker climbs up in the glider and I warn him again about not getting the chair rocking off the ground.  He pauses and says, "I'm Momma."

I say, "Nice to meet you Momma."

Whittaker then says to me as I am holding Harper, "C'mere, I feed you."  Then lifts up the right side of his shirt exposing his right "nickle" and then repeats, "C'mere, I feed you."  As he pats his "nickle."

As if this wasn't enough, we went to church and after service Barrett headed upstairs to get Whittaker from his class and the teacher informed him that Whittaker nursed one of the dolls infront of everybody (3,4 and 5 years olds).  He actually lifted up his shirt and put the baby doll to his "nickle" and said, "I need a feed him....OUCH!...he bite me...be careful!"

What did you teach your kid this week?

Proudly Introducing Whittaker Snare...

After a beautifully sunny day, Whittaker decided to pick up his guitar and went to sit outside and just strum away as the sun was fading. Barrett moved quickly to get the camera and captured a moment that we will forever cherish because we can share it with those of you who also love our son for being a unique creation of the Lord.

Praying for Snow...

This is a video from my cell phone that I got in the drive from Argyle, Texas while we were stuck in the car on the highway for 2 hours for a drive that is normally 20 minutes. The snow at our house is all gone today, but wow, was it a down pouring!

On Monday afternoon, Whittaker was watching a cartoon called the "Backyardigans" and the episode was the characters playing in the snow. Whitty had not experienced snow until this past Christmas when we were at my in-laws house in Edmond, Oklahoma and it snowed the day after Christmas. While watching the show, Whitty turned around to me and said, "Mama, I want snow."

I replied to him, "Baby, you're gonna have to ask Jesus for snow 'cause Mama can't do anything about that."

Well, Monday night, we actually did have a bit of snow falling so Barrett took him outside to show him that Jesus heard his prayer. I guess Whittaker just wanted some more, because yesterday was some snow like I hadn't seen in years. Thanks Jesus for letting my Whitty's faith grow this week...and for letting ours grow as we watched it unfold.

Growing Out and Growing Up

(Above)Whittaker just after his first bath- 5 days old (Below)Last Sunday after getting his hair cut

Just 3 months before his 3rd birthday, my Whittaker is looking bigger than ever!

Two weeks ago, I went to pick him up from the nursery after Life Group and this kid came running toward me that I didn't even recognize and thought, "Who is that chunk?" (I know, I am so compassionate!) Only to discover that it was indeed Whitty running at me. We had dropped him off 2 hours earlier with a cheeseburger and french fries (we're obviously health nuts) and as he got into the car, he told Barrett and I, "Chee-burger awe-gone." Which were glad that he was telling us that he had indeed eaten his dinner. Some of the ladies in our Life Group had spoken earlier of seeing him chow down when they dropped their kids off, so the confirmation of this by our son and the communication of it was well received. However, Whitty kept telling us, "Chee-burer awe-gone!" Each time a little louder and a little fussier. Realizing what was going on now, I asked him, "Are you hungry?" He nodded his head and replied with yes, then told us he needed another "chee-burger."

Growing boys need food and we have discovered a pattern with Whitty as he has growth spurts that he grows wide and then grows tall within a few days. Five days after the "chee-burger" night, I was getting him dressed for church and putting on his Converse All-Stars that he had gotten for Christmas and had not worn yet. As he stood up and I was so excited to see how they looked with his jeans, only to be shocked that his jeans were now too short. I was sad, not because he had gotten taller, but because I love those jeans and thought that when I bought them in August that they would last all year. I hadn't even had to adjust the waste to a bigger width yet and he had already outgrown them. So, I'll be off to find another pair now in a 3T, with still 3 months to go before he actually turns 3.

I'm so proud

Been listening to the new Cross Timbers Worship CD called Arrival (a Christmas album) this morning while I was puttering around the house cleaning. I'm not sure when they go on sale, but you can listen to a few songs online at:

Barrett sings on two tracks on the CD, the one on the website is "Angels We Have Heard On High".

Drum Lovin'...

This video was taken at the Christmas Eve '06 rehearsal and Whittaker clamoring at his chance to play the drums.
